Environmental sensing

Detecting pollutants at trace concentration requires both selectivity and sensitivity. Luminescent MOFs transduce chemical binding directly into a measurable optical signal.

Sensors developed

  • NO₂ and SO₂ detection down to 5 ppb using Eu³⁺-doped MOF films on QCM chips
  • Water-quality monitoring: colorimetric MOF strips for Pb²⁺, Hg²⁺ and PFAS in field-deployable format
  • VOC discrimination: MOF-array electronic nose distinguishing 12 industrial solvents with >98% accuracy

Integration

Work with microelectronics partners to integrate MOF thin films on CMOS substrates for chip-scale sensor arrays.
